I love vintage sweaters. I think it started with ugly Christmas sweaters. Instead of buying them new I’d browse thrift stores and it turns out there are so many cute everyday sweaters there too! I find vintage (and vintage styles) often resemble hand-knit sweaters and since I still haven’t worked up the courage to knit a sweater this is the closest I can get!
Vintage sweaters come in a lot of styles and can be worn so many ways so I thought it would be appropriate to share two distinct looks that you can wear!
This look reminds me of Clara from Doctor Who. It seemed like she was always wearing cute skirt and sweater or blouse combinations. This sweater isn’t technically vintage but the fair isle feels very vintage and I love wearing it. I got my shoes on my trip to El Salvador which you can read about here, on the last day we visited a local market full of handmade products and I just couldn’t resist these shoes.
Someone recently told me that this outfit looks like a hipster barista which I took as a compliment but consider that information before you recreate this. I found this oversized American Eagle sweater at a local market while Christmas shopping. Did I technically buy for myself when I was supposed to be shopping for others? Maybe. Do I regret it? Absolutely not. Eclectic Co. is a collection of local business owners who came together to create an awesome shop to sell their products. There’s a zero-waste company, two vintage clothing companies, jewelry makers, and several artists at Eclectic Co. and it is such an inspirational and fun place to shop! According to the tag, my hat is supposed to have the outline of Colorado on it but I can assure you that is not what CO looks like. I finished the look off with my OTK boots that make me feel super powerful.
