My Summer Book List 2016

Hello!

Today I’m sharing the books I plan to read, and the audiobooks I plan to listen to for the summer of 2016. This list is a little bit ambitious, I don’t know if I will get through them all before the end of the summer and I’m not familiar with all of these books so this isn’t a reccomendation list. Comment below if you would like me to do a post about my favorites, or mini reviews for each book at the end of the summer.

Let’s start with audiobooks shall we? I’ve found audiobooks to be invaluable, especially during the school year when I don’t really have time to sit down and read a book, but I can listen to books while I’m driving or on long car rides. I plan to do a lot of listening to audiobooks during road trips this summer.

*Les Miserables by Victor Hugo

This one is so long it just might take all summer to get through. I read the abridged version in school sophomore year and I’m finally getting around to the unabridged version.

*How Should We Then Live by Francis A. Schaeffer

*The Complete Stories of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

I love the BBC TV show Sherlock and I’m slowly making my way through the original stories. A Study in Scarlet was almost better than A Study in Pink and I really want BBC to make an episode based on The Speckled Band.

*Islands in the Stream by Ernest Hemingway

I am going to the Florida Keys this summer on vacation and hopefully will be visiting Ernest Hemingway’s house in Key West so I’m planning to listen to this on my way there.

*All Is Grace by Brennan Manning

Now for the books I plan to read. I have been trying to create some habits in my life about reading. I keep a book or two downloaded on the kindle app on my phone and I try to carry a book in my purse so that whenever I am waiting and would normally just scroll through social media I have a book to read instead. I’m also trying to replace some of the time I would normally spend watching Netflix at night with time spent reading. I often say “so many books, so little time” so I’m trying to make better use of the time I do have to read.

*The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis

An old favorite that I want to reread.

*The Hobbit and *The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien

*Undaunted Student Edition by Christine Caine

*Looking for Alaska by John Green

I wasn’t much of a fan of The Fault in Our Stars but I thought I’d give one more John Green book a try.

*The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway

Another one that I want to read before I visit his house

*The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd

*Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

I’ve read Persuasion and Sense and Sensibility and am currently reading Mansfield Park and I’m looking forward to another Austen.

*Bone Gap by Laura Ruby
